On Pricing

What virus removal actually costs.

Virus removal pricing depends on what we find. A browser hijacker cleanup is a different job from a ransomware infection that needs a system rebuild. We can’t honestly quote either one until we’ve looked.

Every job starts with an in-shop diagnostic. Diagnostic fee quoted at check-in and applied to your repair if you proceed. After we know what we’re dealing with, we tell you the cost and the timeline. You decide whether to proceed before any work begins.

If a wipe-and-reinstall is the safer call, we’ll tell you and walk you through what that looks like.

The questions we get most.

How much does virus removal cost?

It depends on the infection. Standard cleanups (pop-ups, adware, browser hijackers, email compromise) are a different job from ransomware or rootkit-level cases that need a full wipe and reinstall. We diagnose in-shop and quote before any work begins. Diagnostic fee quoted at check-in and applied to your repair if you proceed.

How long does it take?

Ask about turnaround when you check in; it depends on the repair and parts availability. Multi-tool scans take time to run thoroughly, and we don’t rush them; missed persistence means the infection comes back.

Should I just buy a new computer?

Usually no. Most infections are removable without replacing the machine. Best Buy will often push the new-computer option because they sell computers; we don’t. We’ll tell you honestly whether your machine is worth saving.

Can you remove ransomware?

We can remove the ransomware itself. Decrypting files locked by ransomware is usually NOT possible without paying the ransom (which we don’t recommend) or having a clean backup. Don’t pay. Bring it in and we’ll tell you what’s recoverable.

Will my files be safe during the cleanup?

Yes. Your data is handled only by the technician working on the job and stays in our shop. If we need to do a wipe-and-reinstall, we preserve your data first (where possible) and restore it after.

Will you install antivirus afterward?

Yes, we install an antivirus of your choice, plus harden Windows or macOS settings to reduce the chance of reinfection. The cleanup isn’t finished until you’re protected.

My email was hacked. Can you help with that too?

Yes. Email compromise usually means a leaked password, a malicious extension, or malware on your device. We’ll find the entry point, lock the account back down, and remove the underlying cause.

I clicked a fake Microsoft popup and let them in. What now?

Power off your computer and bring it in. Tech support scammers often install remote access tools and steal data. We check what they touched, remove the access, and assess whether anything sensitive was exposed.

Do you do business / multi-machine cleanups?

Yes, small office infections that spread across several computers, we can audit them as a set. Call us first if you have a multi-machine situation so we can plan the right approach.
